Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, three records are created automatically when the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain address. The website and the email hosting are typically thought to be one thing, when they are in fact two different services. Having different records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you would like. As an example, some new service provider may have outstanding uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - either way, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every shared web hosting which we provide, allows you to see, modify and create A and MX records for every domain or subdomain within your account. From the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to see a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few clicks. Setting up new records is as easy if, for example, you wish to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You can also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. With our sophisticated tool, you'll be able to handle the records of your domain names and subdomains with ease even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for each of your domain addresses or subdomains is very easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are maintained using our in-house built Hepsia CP, which has a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't encounter any issues if you decide to direct your website or emails to an alternative service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you may also set up additional MX records and set a certain priority depending on the instructions of the new provider.
